Presenting: the brass family! Philadelphia Orchestra musician Matt Vaughn will guide the audience through this regal instrument family.
The next in our series of musician travel tips comes from the son of a friend of mine, who just returned from Osaka and has the following suggestions.
A MUST for meat lovers is Matsusaka Yakiniku. And get the garlic fried rice. The general manager’s name is Kuni. He is a local celebrity and knows all the best places. He is also extremely friendly and knowledgeable.
Osaka Food Crawl: Kuni, the general manager of Matsusaka Yakiniku, also runs his own food crawl. It’s a great way to experience all the food options in Osaka.
The following two places were recommended by Kuni. Both of these are in the Dotonbori area.
Tempura Tarojiro has really good and reasonable tempura, made right in front of you.
Hanamaruken Ramen is a very good ramen spot.
Bar Nayuta is a very cool cocktail bar. There’s no menu, but they will make whatever inspires them based on your tastes.
Pecca+Pu: We have it on good authority that this soft-serve ice cream place is a lot of fun!
Long soft ice cream in the Amerikamura District.
Osaka Castle: This is a good contrast to the temples people see in Tokyo and Kyoto.
